FIG-e-Working-Week

The FIG Working Week 2021 is a conference that  such as:

Event: FIG e-Working Week 2021

Date: 21 – 25 June 2021, virtual

Organizer: International Federation of Surveyors

FIG Working Week 2021 will be a virtual conference and bring together surveyors and spatial professionals from all over the world. It is an international forum for FIG e-Working Week community to network, socialize and exchange knowledge.

The theme for FIG Working Week 2021 will be the same as for FIG 2020:

FIG Working Week | “Smart Surveyors for Land and Water Management”

-with an addition to also to reflect on the impact of COVID-19 on our profession. During the FIG Working Week 2021 besides the subthemes Smart Surveyors, Integrated Land and Water Management and Ten Years to Achieve the SDG’s, we want to focus on the surveyor and the challenges they have in an unstable, uncertain, unpredictable world and with what technology, methods and procedures they face these new developments. How do surveyors adapt to these unexpected circumstances and what have we learned so far from these challenges?

With Smart Surveyor for Land and Water Management, we stand still by the knowledge of the Dutch. Over almost 200 years of experience with mapping and more than 100 years of land consolidation, mapping and surveying are almost basic activities within the Netherlands to support the management of land and water. Apart from being known for its tulips, wind mills and clogs, with its almost 42,000 square meters the Netherlands is one of the most surveyed areas in the world. Every square meter is mapped, registered and documents and it has to be, being densely populated, with more than 55% of the total country below sea level and being the second exporter of agricultural goods in the world.

Over the past few years, Hi-Target took participant in the forum to present reports and share the insights on industry development. It is a great opportunity to be inspired and connect with global professionals groups and experts. This year, Hi-Target will continue its journey to get involved in the FIG Working Week 2021 and we expect to present two reports titled “The Unmanned Surface Vehicle Used in Hydrographic Surveying” and “Economical GNSS Chipset for Application in Structural Health & Deformation Monitoring Solution”.

Hydrographic survey is essential and widely welcomed in the world for economy, security and society purposes. However, how to survey in a safer and faster way is always the question to the modern world. USV, short for Unmanned Surface Vehicle, is a revolutionary platform that can carry all kinds of the sensor for hydrographic survey. The article will share and discuss a practical case of the bathymetric survey in Hunhe River and some specific applications of the USV. Equipped with a high-performance single beam echo sounder, high-precision GNSS positioning and on-board data control and acquisition software, the swift and intelligent iBoat BS3 USV is the ideal surveying unmanned surface vehicle for hydrographic survey.

Deformation monitoring provides real-time monitoring of the position, space, and deformation of an object. Common deformation monitoring includes landslide monitoring, mine monitoring, road and bridge monitoring, dam monitoring, construction monitoring, etc. It has been developed for a long time in most countries. Now, with the continuous development of the Chinese economy and technology, the market for deformation monitoring is getting bigger and bigger, and deformation monitoring technology is also increasing rapidly. Since GNSS technology has been widely used in the field of deformation monitoring and has been a high-cost problem, a dual-frequency, multi-system, low-cost GNSS chip solution is proposed for this field. In this paper, the feasibility of this solution in the field of deformation monitoring is verified by comparing it with mainstream multi-frequency multi-system high-precision receiver and simulating common deformation monitoring environments. The test results show that this solution can guarantee the accuracy and effectiveness of positioning, while its low cost, low power consumption, and small size means it has high value for engineering project applications.
